Young Empires [Entrevista]

   

Young Empires es un trio de Toronto, su música es una mezcla de muchos estilos, que me hace recordar a Cut Copy y  Friendly Fires. Todo empezó con Rain of Gold, rola con toques disco, y pop-indie. Después en su myspace regalaron un paquete de rolas incluyendo un remix a Sunday Girl, bastante bueno para pasarla bien en el verano. Ahora se preparan para su tour en el Reino Unido y µ sique tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Matt y esto es lo que nos dijo:

(µ) Hello Young Empires!, Congrats on your killer EP. Do you plan to release a LP soon?

(MATT) Well, it’s not really an EP. We’ve just been recording demos in our bedrooms, rehearsal space, anywhere really and posting them online.  We hope to find the right visionaries to put out the LP for the spring of 2011

(µ) From the MP3 bundle, do you have a favorite song?

(MATT) Not really. We are passionate about all the music we write and post online. Everyone will have their own personal preference.

(µ) Where does your name comes from, why Young Empires?

(MATT) We got offered a gig to open for We Have Band and didn’t have a name. We settled on Young Empires because it reflects our personalities and professional aspirations.

(µ) There is a blending of styles and genres in your music, (BTW an awesome blending) what are your main influences?

(MATT) You know, this was never planned. When we came together, we agreed to be open-minded to everyone’s influence. Our music is just a by-product of our mutual respect for each other.

(µ) You’ve been touring a lot, in fact you have an UK tour coming soon, what is like to see Young Empires live?

(MATT) The live show is certainly different from the recorded material. More party and more bass, I’d say.

(µ) You guys have a pretty incredible remix of Self Control from Sunday Girl, how did that happened?

(MATT) Good question. Certainly an unlikely combo. It was our first ever remix. Geffen UK contacted us and asked if we’d be interested. The rest is history.

(µ) Are you guys gonna keep making remixes?

(MATT) We’ve got a Two Door Cinema Club remix coming out on Kitsune and a remix for French Horn Rebellion coming out in the fall.
